Jeffrey P. Downer and Pamela J. DeVet prevailed on appeal in Heritage Investments, Inc. v. Law Firm in King County Superior Court. Plaintiff-appellant had issued a corporate credit card to its employee in her name. After she used the card to pay for legal services, the plaintiff alleged that Jeff and Pam’s law firm client had improperly taken the payment. The payment had been taken by phone, and the paying client had not mentioned she was using a corporate credit card. The plaintiff disputed the payments with the card issuer, but it determined the law firm could keep the payments. Then the plaintiff sued Jeff and Pam’s client for conversion, negligence, violation of the Consumer Protection Act, and unjust enrichment in the King County District Court, which dismissed all claims on summary judgment. The superior court affirmed the summary judgment ruling on appeal.
