In Grimes v. Grimes, Jeffrey P. Downer and Sydney J. Martinez won a motion to dismiss in King County Superior Court. Plaintiffs sued a superior court judge, Jeff and Sydney’s client, and several others including a sheriff, plaintiffs’ family members, and the family members’ attorney. They alleged wrongful eviction, property damage, and violation of Plaintiffs’ due process rights. Plaintiffs claimed damages for more than $600,000. Jeff and Sydney successfully argued that Plaintiffs’ claims against their client are barred by judicial immunity, as they were based solely on judicial conduct while presiding over the underlying cases. The court granted the motion to dismiss with prejudice.
